Our pastoral Residency

The Heart of Christ for the Heart of Ministry

UBC’s Pastoral Residency is a training program designed to equip men to be God-honoring, Christ-exalting, Spirit-dependent pastors.

Through study, reflection, and participation, residents gain experience in pastoral leadership, ecclesiology, church polity, preaching and teaching, and ministry in the local church. The program is immersive, placing residents in the rhythms of ministerial life to learn how to serve and lead God’s people.

The Residency lasts 9 months (August–May) and centers on reading, writing, observing, and discussion. Residents complete reflection and position papers and meet weekly with pastors.

The program blends theory and practice, with opportunities for pastoral ministry, service, and practicums in core competencies such as baptism, the Lord’s Supper, sermon preparation, and counseling.

Finally, the Residency is a place for pastoral friendship, where men are encouraged and prepared for faithful ministry.

We intend to make decisions about residency applications by mid-March before the program starts in late August. If you are interested, please make sure to apply by mid-February to be considered.

"The work of the ministry is the best work in the world. God had but one Son in the world, and He made Him a minister."
