People were also bringing babies to Jesus for him to place his hands on them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

– Luke 18:15-17

We are now seeking volunteers to help with Vacation Bible School 2024!

Focusing on sharing the Good News of Jesus from Genesis to Revelation, this year’s VBS will take place on Sunday, June 23rd through Thursday, June 27th, 5:45-8pm each evening. This week will be a fun-filled week of sharing the Good News of Jesus with children from pre-k 4 to 4th grade. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the form by clicking the button below.

Childrens Ministry (Birth-4th)

Children are a gift from God to our church and we want to shepherd them well. God calls parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their children. Our aim is to support parents and assist them as they seek to train up their child in the fear and instruction of the LORD. This happens organically in the church family in a variety of ways. Church members caring for children and teaching them the truths of God’s Word during the regular meetings of the church is only a small part of UBC’s ministry to children and parents.

Our prayer is that the children entrusted to our care see a vibrant faith at work in their parents, volunteers, and in the life of the church. We ask that the Lord would use our service to children to expose them to the gospel and plant seeds that grow into saving faith that endures to the end. We hope that our work enforces what children are already learning at home, and further equips parents and caregivers to disciple their children in the truths of God’s Word.

We offer several programs that seek to come alongside parents in a Word-centered, loving, and safe environment.

Nursery & Preschool

It is never too early to begin instilling in children the truth of the gospel. From the smallest of infants to the most energetic of preschoolers, we want to teach them who God says He is in his Word and tell them that God made them for His glory!

Sunday School
9:00-10:15am

Children are divided into classes by age, and learn about our big God from both the Old and New Testament using Truth 78 curriculum (formerly Children’s Desiring God). Nursery classes go through A Sure Foundation, and Preschool classes go through both He Has Spoken By His Son and He Established a Testimony.

Corporate Worship Service
10:30am-12:00pm

During our morning worship service, we provide childcare for children birth-preschool with activities, Bible stories and lessons, Scripture memory, songs, crafts, snacks, and recreation.

Elementary (K-4th)

These classes are divided by grade and aim to make much of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to capitalize on these formative years as children begin to ask personal questions about God and the gospel.

Sunday School
Sundays 9:00-10:15am

Classes are divided by grade and are taught from Truth 78 curriculum. During this time, we seek to present a great God who is worthy to be praised and give children the opportunity to learn about his character through bible lessons, music, scripture memory, crafts, and dialogue with teachers. We also provide children with a snack and a time of games.

Corporate Worship Service
Sunday 10:30am-12:00pm

All elementary children are invited to join their families for our corporate worship service in the Main Hall. Worship sheets to help your child follow along in the service are available for them every Sunday morning at ConnectingPoint.

Elementary children are also invited to join the church body during our Sunday Evening Services.

Children With Special Needs

At UBC, we believe every child is uniquely created by God in his image. We want every child to delight in Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to worship Him in a caring and safe environment. Our goal is to welcome all children with special needs, showing them Jesus, including them in classes and activities with their peers, and creating a space where they experience belonging and growth in relationships.

If you are visiting UBC for the first time with a child who has special needs or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Leah Smith, or our Childcare Coordinator, Tammy Lineberger.

While we offer childcare for children ages newborn to preschool for both our morning and evening service, parents are invited to bring their children with them in the service. You’ll notice that many families at UBC choose to do this. It’s our joy to have children of all ages worship with us.

For more on the value of having your children with you in the worship service, and for ways you can help your children engage in the service, download a copy of  A Parent’s Guide to Parenting in the Pew @ UBC.
