The Elders have nominated Nick Roark for the associate pastor position approved in the 2022 church budget.

Nick Roark currently serves as the lead pastor of Franconia Baptist Church. Nick was born in Falls Church, VA, but grew up in Chattanooga, TN, and attended the University of Tennessee, receiving degrees in English Literature and Communications. After college, Nick relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina where he worked for IBM Global Services for six years. In 2006, he transitioned from IBM to Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh to serve on staff as the Pastor of College and Equipping.

Nick holds a Master’s of Divinity degree in Advanced Biblical Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In 2012, he moved to Washington D.C. to serve on staff with Capitol Hill Baptist Church. After serving three years at CHBC, Nick was called to be the pastor of Franconia Baptist Church.

You can listen to the audio of Nick’s time with us from Sunday morning, November 21st below:

Nick has been joyfully married to Allison for the past 19 years. Allison is originally from Shreveport, LA and graduated from Baylor University. They have three children, Elijah (10th grade), Hudson (8th grade), and Emmaline (7th grade). As a family, they enjoy watching and playing sports, as well as attending the kids’ sporting events, which typically include soccer, swimming, and basketball.

Nick is an avid reader and a gifted writer. He keeps a log of the books he’s read and quotes that have inspired his affections for the Lord at www.tollelege.net. The Latin phrase, “Tolle Lege” translates “take up and read,” which is what Augustine records being the Lord’s instruction to him following his conversion (see “Confessions” by Augustine). In addition to the excerpts and thoughts shared on his blog, Nick is the author of Biblical Theology in the “Building Healthy Churches” series. Nick has also written numerous articles and resources for 9Marks. You can read some of them HERE.

Once while traveling in Israel, Nick and Allison ran into Peyton Manning in the lobby of their hotel. Coincidentally dressed in his Tennessee orange, Nick caught Payton’s eye and bonded over their love for the Vols (but we won’t hold that against him).

You can take a closer look at Nick’s professional resume HERE.

Please take time to prayerfully consider Nick and the Roark family for the position of Associate Pastor at UBC. Pray that the Elders would shepherd the body by seeking the Lord to guide conversations with Nick and his family.
